EU bans Alphonso mangoes, India to appeal

The European Union has temporarily restricted the import of Alphonso mangoes and four vegetables from India, with effect from May 1. They cited finding pests in some consignments as the reason. As a result, there has been extra supplies of mangoes in India, and this spike in supply is reducing the local market prices of mangoes. A day after the ban was announced, the Indian government said it would raise the issue with the EU trade commissioner.
