NEA releases rental rates for food centres with leases expiring

SINGAPORE - When the leases of hawker centres expire, stall-holders who wish to continue their businesses will have the option to do so, said the National Environment Agency (NEA).

Four sold hawker centres with expiring leases will be returned to the government on June 1, 2014.

The food centres - with leases expring on May 31 - are located at Block 207 New Upper Changi Road, Block 117 Aljunied Ave 2, Block 20 Ghim Moh Road and Block 503 West Coast Drive.

NEA on Wednesday released rental rates for the new three-year tenancy agreement.

Stall-holders who were previously on the subsidised scheme will continue to pay subsidised rent set by NEA. The subsidised rentals for cooked food stalls range from $192 to $320, while those for market lock-up and slab stalls range from $68 to $111.

Non-subsidised stall-holders and those who had bought their stalls in the resale market will pay the prevailing market rent as evaluated by professional valuers appointed by NEA. The non-subsidised rentals for cooked food stalls range from $1,340 to $2,360, while those for market lock-up and slab stalls range from $230 to $700.
