JAKARTA - Just keep it tight!
This is the advice Morten Frost has for Lee Chong Wei for the final against China’s Chen Long.
Chong Wei broke the resolve of Jan O Jorgensen of Denmark with a 21-7, 21-19 win in the semi-finals while top seed Chen Long blew away Kento Momota of Japan 21-9, 21-15.
“It is all about keeping his composure and believing that he can do it. He has to make every single shot count,” said Frost, the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) technical director.
“He should never give anything easy because Chen Long is a hard worker. If you give him a few easy points, the match will get tricky for Chong Wei.
“No matter what happens, Chong Wei has to keep it tight.”
Frost was happy to see a confident display by Chong Wei against Jorgensen.
“He has grown in confidence with every round. Sometimes he holds back but I hope this time he will go for it.
“He has to understand that no one is going to give it to him (the title). He has to go in and take it.”
In their last meeting, Chong Wei lost to Chen Long in the quarter-final of the Taiwan Open.
“It was a close match. I expect tomorrow’s final to be the same but I believe the outcome will be reversed.”
