It's official: Steinbrunner is Geylang coach

Jorg Steinebrunner was installed as Geylang International's head coach on Wednesday, and will lead the Eagles out against the Courts Young Lions in the Great Eastern-Yeo's S.League on Thursday, in place of V Kanan.

"The first thing we need to do is to start being competitive and enjoying our football again, and if we keep working hard, results will come sooner or later," said Steinebrunner (left, in white), who described his first training session at the Bedok Stadium on Wednesday as fun but intense.

Kanan did not participate in the German's session on Wednesday, and has been put in charge of Geylang's Prime League side.

"I want to see three things from the boys (today): commitment, determination and a willingness to work for each other," said Steinebrunner, the former Woodlands Wellington coach, who led the Rams to victory in the inaugural League Cup in 2007.

He last coached Sengkang Punggol (now Hougang United) in the S.League in 2009.

"I don't know if we're going to win... but if everyone gives 100 per cent, I can't ask for more," he said.

"It's great to be back in the S.League, it's a bit of a homecoming for me, and I'm grateful to the club and the management for giving me the opportunity to take over the team."
