More than 1,000 took part in Tg Pagar-Tiong Bahru vertical city trail

Singapore - More than 1,000 runners took part in the inaugural 10km Tanjong Pagar-Tiong Bahru Salomon Vertical City Trail, which included an intense climb up the 20-storeys of Tiong Bahru Central Plaza.

The run, which took the competitors to scenic spots as well as well-preserved landmarks in the two estates, concluded with fun and fanfare.

Tikal Magar, 29, stormed his way to victory in the Men's Open Category, clocking 36:48 minutes, his personal best. The title of the Women's Open Category went to Vanja Cmops, 26, who came in at 40:32 minutes.

Grassroot advisor to Tanjong Pagar GRC, Miss Indranee Rajah, Senior Minister of State for Law and Education, flagged off the race at PSB Academy. Hundreds of family members, friends and supporters of the particpants turned up to cheer them on at the finishing line.

Trail enthusiasts who were not ready for the challenging Open Category opted for a less grueling option of a 5km run and 4-storeys vertical climb at Tiong Bahru Plaza.

Families with children and the elderly participants took a leisurely stroll in the fun walk category.

The Open champions walked away with a $250 Salomon product voucher, Salomon Nordic Thermal Belt, Salomon XA Cap, Yurbuds earphone and one year subscription of RUN magazine.
