Singapore's top paddler Feng Tianwei will have played Japan's Sayaka Hirano on Friday in a bid to stay alive in the Asian Cup women's singles in China.
The world No. 7 finished third in her group of four after beating Japan's Kasumi Ishikawa 3-0, going down 3-1 to both South Korea's Seok Hajung and North Korea's Ri Myong Sun.
Feng's teammate Yu Mengyu is through to the quarter-finals after finishing second in her group.
The world No. 23 beat Taiwan's Cheng I-Ching 3-1, but lost 3-0 to China's Li Xiaoxia and 3-2 to Hong Kong's Jiang Huajun.
In the men's singles, Singapore's No. 1 Gao Ning bowed out of the competition after two losses and one win in his group.
