Singapore wushu power in Manila

Singapore wasted no time establishing themselves as a force in wushu at the 6th ASEAN School Games in Manila.

With wushu making its debut as a demonstration sport at the Games, the Singapore Schools wushu team won one gold and one bronze at the event.

Hwa Chong Institution's Lee Chyi Fang, 17, clinched the gold in the girls' Chang Quan & Short Weapon all-round (Individual) category.

Meridian Junior College's Benedict Khoo, 18, finished third in the boys' Tai Ji Quan.

Singapore are represented by 200 athletes from 48 secondary schools and junior colleges, participating in events like athletics, swimming, badminton, golf, tennis and sepak takraw.

This year's Games began on Nov 29 and will end on Sunday.
