Police nab 53-year-old man for molest

SINGAPORE - Police have arrested a 53-year-old man for a case of Outrage of Modesty.

On Jul 12, 2013, at about 10.15am, a 16-year-old female lodged a police report informing that she was molested along Woodlands Street 41.

After an extensive investigation, officers from Jurong Police Division managed to trace the suspect and arrested him on the same day at about 4.45pm around the vicinity where the offence took place.

For the offence of Outrage of Modesty under Section 354(1) of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, the suspect may be jailed for up to two years, or fined, and is also be liable to caning. Investigations against the suspect are still ongoing.

Commander of Jurong Police Division, Deputy Assistant Commissioner of Police (DAC) Wilson Lim, commended the officers for their swift response and excellent investigative skills. He advised victims who encounter such situations to remain calm, take note of the suspect's physical description, and call the police as soon as it is safe to do so.
