Taxi driver gets two weeks jail for punching motorcyclist

A taxi driver was jailed for two weeks on Thursday for assaulting a motorcyclist in a road rage case.

Poh Teik Eng, 43, pleaded guilty to punching Mr Yen Chee Jiang, 28, on his chest at the junction of Havelock Road and New Market Road on Feb 10 last year, reported, The Straits Times Online.

Mr Yen was behind Poh along Havelock Road in a right-turn only lane when Poh tried to filter to the lane on his left but failed due to heavy traffic. Poh jammed his brakes and tried to switch lanes again, and Mr Yen honked at him and shouted "Oi!''.

When they stopped at a traffic light junction near New Market Road, Poh exited his taxi and approached Mr Yen. The two argued and Poh threw punches at Mr Yen.
