Kovan murders: Suspect arrested at popular JB eatery

SINGAPORE - The operations manager of the 24-hour restaurant, Mr Azhar Abu Bakar, told The Sunday Times yesterday that he recognised Iskandar because he had been there several times before with a small group of friends.

Police said on Saturday night that the suspect will be charged in Court on Monday at 9.00 am.

He was wearing jeans and a black T-shirt and his right hand appeared bandaged. The time stamp of the videos was between 9.23pm and 9.24pm on Friday night.

A check revealed that Iskandar Rahmat was declared a bankrupt a day after a double murder in Kovan on Wednesday in which a father and his son were killed.

A 14-year veteran of the force and a member of the Bedok Police Division, he was facing financial difficulties and disciplinary proceedings. Checks showed that the married man was declared bankrupt last Thursday, a day after the murders.
