July 11 SingPass tender: IDA replies

SINGAPORE - The article ("Govt plans more secure SingPass system", June 28) stated that the Government will implement two-factor authentication (2FA) services as early as the third quarter of 2015, and that the Government had called a tender a few weeks ago to replace an earlier tender, which asked for the provision of 2FA services.

The two tenders are not related. The tender called on June 14 was for a system to replace the current SingPass system and to introduce a new "CorpPass" system for corporate users to transact online with government agencies.

The tender did not demand the provision of 2FA services for SingPass or CorpPass transactions; it merely requested that tenderers submit quotes for a gateway interface linking the new SingPass/CorpPass system to any 2FA services that government agencies might choose to subscribe to in future.
