SINGAPORE - We thank Mr Ho Tian Shun for his feedback ("New card activated, old one still usable"; June 27) and have contacted him.

The card he referred to was replaced two years ago.

Customers are advised to destroy their old cards by cutting them across the magnetic stripes.

Over the years, we have continually enhanced our processes to tighten card security, in accordance with industry standards.

Customers can be assured that their old cards will be disabled immediately, once their new ones have been activated.

The safety of our customers' funds is of utmost importance, and we continue to invest in our fraud prevention and detection measures.

Some measures we have taken to prevent card fraud include:

- Activation required for all new, replacement and renewal cards before they can be used;

- SMS alerts for first transactions made on customers' new cards;

- SMS alerts for transactions above a certain threshold; and

- Activation required for overseas ATM transactions.
