Focus on improving schools, not on registration system

Every year, there will be concerned parents who call for the abolishment or revamp of the Primary 1 registration system ("P1 registration: Create level playing field" by Ms Corrina Ng; Forum Online, May 20).

The common reasons cited revolve around the way the existing system favours the school alumni and parent volunteers, which puts some at a disadvantage.

There is a need to look at things from every perspective.

The Education Ministry's efforts to make every school a good school is a worthy goal, but needs time to be implemented and to bear fruit.

I support any change that is aimed at the betterment of schools, whether it be in the area of infrastructure, quality of teaching, or overall well-being of the students.

Parents should focus on this rather than on the registration system itself.
