TAIPEI - Jay Chou's latest movie has the support of Chinese director Zhang Yimou.

The Rooftop on Wednesday held its Taiwan premiere in a Taipei cinema, which was attended by Taiwanese celebrities such as Chang Fei and J.J. Lin and director Chu Yen-ping. The biggest hotshot, however, appeared on a video shown at the premiere's press conference.

Zhang saw the movie after Chou sent him a disc, and in the video, he spoke to the camera to heap praise on the singer's second directorial debut, a musical martial-arts movie starring Chou, Alan Ko, Wang Xueqi and Eric Tsang.

'Jay is slowly choking us up in the business. We're going to lose our rice bowl... and it's all you young directors,' said the 61-year-old director, among his lavish praises.

Chou, 34, starred in Zhang's 2006 movie, Curse Of The Golden Flower.

Chou himself gave the film 100 marks, and his acting 95 marks.

'Less five marks because being also a director more or less would be distracting,' he quipped.
