SINGAPORE - SPH Magazines won one Gold and three Excellence awards at the Asian Publishing Awards 2013. The awards were given out at a red carpet gala event at Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Manila this evening.
Clinching the Gold award for most outstanding project in the Best Feature on Asian Fashion category was Female Brides Lookbook Issue 5. The winning spread was shot at the China Club Singapore - known for its opulent, colourful and chinois décor - and featured stunning creations from Singapore's top couturiers. Models were dressed in sparkling and jewel-hued dresses paired with dramatic makeup, styling and poses to create a persona of an Oriental Princess in her palace waiting for her beau. The visual tale is lavishly opulent and dramatic, a dreamscape of old world romance, gorgeous gowns and decadent luxury that won the stamp of approval from the judging panel.
The 2012 - 2013 issue of ICON MOMENTS won the Excellence award for Best Use of Design, Layout & Presentation. The team used a variety of design features for its lead stories and feature spreads to capture readers' attention. Particularly outstanding was its high-end jewellery spread which took over three months to complete as many of the pieces had to be flown in from around the world. Sketches of marine life were hand drawn on chalk board, leaving the jewellery pieces to highlight the juxtaposition of simple art and high-end jewellery.
SilverKris clinched two awards of Excellence - Best use of Design, Layout & Presentation for its July 2012 issue and Best Cover Design for its December 2012 issue. For the July 2012 issue, the team seamlessly brought together elements which complemented the Summer-inspired theme - from design to illustration to narratives - for its fashion spread. The theme for its December 2012 issue was "Bespoke". The winning cover featured a collage of colourful handcrafted papercraft filled with intricate details of both Toronto and Osaka, the two main destinations featured in the issue.
Lianhe Wanbao and omy.sg, the leading bilingual news and entertainment web portal of Singapore Press Holdings also picked up an Excellence award in the category of Best Multimedia Integration to Engage Audience.
With 171 projects from 31 companies in eight countries vying for the Awards, the Asian Publishing Awards is Asia's premier awards programme that recognises outstanding achievements in the development of successful business models using multimedia platforms.
