Fun day out for families

As the National Family Celebrations activities wind down on June 29 with Family DayOut, families get more options to spend time together in various satellite events across the island.

These include extreme sports such as sailing and laser tag at the Promontory and free-to-participate family-oriented activities at Singapore Flyer and Gardens by the Bay. Anchoring Family Day Out is the fun-filled Family Day Out Carnival at the Marina Bay Waterfront Promenade on that day from10amto 7pm.

Family Day Out will culminate with a call-to-action this year, with the launch of the first-ever nationwide "6:29 is Family Time"movement.

"During the moment,we encourage Singaporeans to show appreciation to our loved ones, be it through a call to say 'I love you', a thank-you text, tweet, or simply just a hug," explains Mr Lim Soon Hock, co-chair of National Family Celebrations 2013 Organising Committee and chairman of National FamilyCouncil.

"We believe that going back to the basics to revisit core family values such as communicationwill not only go a long way to builda close-knit and resilient familybut also help to promote the family anda family-first mindset."

Admission to the events is free. Visitwww.nfc.sg for more information.
