'Forgetful' mum returns to dead child

SUBANG JAYA - A three-year-old girl was found dead after her mother apparently forgot that her daughter was inside the car when she left for work.

It is learnt that Nawal Iris Shamsudin's 32-year-old mother Norzaitusy Hazwa (pic), who is believed to be a teacher, was supposed to send the child to the nursery.

But Norzaitusy, who had earlier sent a relative to the airport in the morning, forgot that her child was inside the car while rushing for an 11am meeting.

She found her dead daughter only when she returned to the car after work at about 5.30pm.

Selangor acting police chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk A. Thaiveegan said police were probing if there was negligence.

The body has been sent to Selayang Hospital for a post-mortem.

In an unrelated case, police arrested two men who had allegedly cut off two fingers of a doctor while trying to snatch her handbag in Section 19 here.

SAC Thaiveegan said the suspects, both in their 20s, were arrested in SS17 on Thursday after a parent of one of the men tipped off the po-lice.

"The parent cooperated with us. We also want to thank the public for their cooperation," he said, adding that the bag of the victim was also seized from the suspects.

"Both have admitted to the crime but we are still investigating."
