KOTA KINABALU - A security guard and a woman have been arrested in connection with the RM300,000 (S$117,855) robbery at the Labuan House of Sabah businessman Datuk Joseph Ambrose Lee in Luyang here.
"The 44-year-old guard was detained on Tuesday, the same day of the robbery, and the 25-year-old woman was arrested on Thursday," said Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Hamza Taib.
"We believe that they can help us in our investigations," he added.
However, he did not want to elaborate whether the security guard was the same one at the businessman's office cum residence at the time of the incident.
During the 2am robbery, three men and a fourth accomplice in a car overpowered a security guard who had fallen asleep while on duty.
They covered his face with a piece of cloth to cover his face and also tied up his legs and hands.
The robbers then brought the security guard to a room outside the house where a Filipina maid was sleeping.
After tying the maid in the room, they entered the building via a window and pried open a safe containing RM10,000 (S$3,928), US$10,000 (S$12,542), S$120,000, three watches and personal documents including passports.
Police believed the suspects were armed with knuckle dusters.
