S'pore is top nation in SEA table-tennis championships

SINGAPORE - Singapore finished as the top country at the South-east Asian Junior Table Tennis Championships in Manila on Tuesday.

The Republic's paddlers clinched the best record of eight golds, four silvers and five bronzes in the five-day tournament.

On Tuesday, Clarence Chew, Lin Ye and Ang Wan Qi clinched titles in the Under-18 boys' singles, U-18 girls' singles and U-15 girls' singles respectively.

Clarence and Lin Ye also claimed the U-18 mixed doubles title after beating compatriots Yee Herng Hwee and Kerry Tan 3-1 in the final to round off a good outing for the Republic.
