Nicole Kidman, goodwill ambassador for women

Actress Nicole Kidman received a humanitarian award from the Cinema for Peace Foundation for raising global attention to the plight of victims of sexual violence. She is the spokesman for the "Say NO - UNiTE to End Violence against Women" initiative.

BERLIN - Nicole Kidman - the goodwill ambassador of the United Nations (UN) Development Fund for Women since 2006 - has been honoured with a humanitarian award from Cinema for Peace Foundation.

The 46-year-old Australian actress received the accolade along with UN Women deputy executive director Lakshmi Puri in Berlin, Germany.

Kidman, who is the spokesman for the "Say NO - UNiTE to End Violence against Women" initiative, has travelled to meet sexual violence survivors and raised attention to this pervasive human rights violation.
