App spurs Zalora sales

SINGAPORE - Local start-up Zalora, an 18-month-old fashion website, has boosted sales by providing an iPhone app for shoppers.

The firm said that about 40 per cent of 17.9 million monthly visits from eight countries to its portal now come via the mobile website and app, launched in January and April respectively.

Mr Karthik Subramanian, Zalora's chief product officer, said that shoppers who use the apps tend to buy more often than those who go to its website on a computer.

Sales from mobile users now account for about 25 per cent of its regional revenue.

Encouraged by this trend, Zalora has launched an Android app. Next will be one for Windows, followed by a Blackberry app.
