Feast without flying at Azur

SINGAPORE - Changi Airport may seem very far to go for a meal if you do not live in the east but it is actually quite accessible by car and public transport. Besides, it's just nice to get out of the city sometimes.

This month, there's one more reason to go to the airport even if you're not leaving the country.

The Azur restaurant at the Crowne Plaza Changi Airport is offering a premium seafood buffet dinner just for this and next weekend.

Besides chilled fare such as fines de claires oysters, Boston lobster and steamed blue crabs on ice, there is also a selection of cooked dishes such as truffle risotto with pan-seared scallop topped with shaved parmesan cheese, truffle salt and caviar butter; black pepper slipper lobster and hawker-style stir-fried chilli bamboo clams, which is cooked in a delicious chilli crab sauce.

The most interesting dish is an original creation of baked whole salmon with seafood, aromatic spices, coconut and lemongrass espuma (above). The salmon is sliced into fillets and the chunks of flesh are arranged, together with pieces of squid, to resemble fish scales - which are then covered in an aromatic curry-like sauce before being baked.
