Haze update: Air clears up in Muar and Singapore

The iconic Sultan Ismail bridge in Muar is clearly seen as the haze is slowly lifting up around 5pm today.

MUAR - The air quality in Muar showed a slight improvement with the Air Pollutant Index (API) reading dipping from 746 at 7am to 507 at 5pm according to Department of Environment website.

Meanwhile Bernama reported, there has been an improvement in air quality since last night, and this improvement has been sustained until this evening.

As at 6pm today, the three-hour Pollutant Standards Index (PSI) reading was 76. The 24-hour PSI was in the range of 81-97.

According to the National Environment Agency (NEA), the improvement in the air quality is due to a change in the direction of low-level winds over Singapore, from south-westerly to southerly, since last night.

However, the NEA predicts the prevailing wind conditions to persist for the next few days.

The 24-hour PSI for the next 24 hours (Sunday 6pm-Monday, 6pm) is expected to be in the moderate band (51-100).
