Friendly Jackman made S'pore fans' day

SINGAPORE - Twelve winners from Singapore were granted an opportunity of a lifetime to meet actor Hugh Jackman during the gala premiere of The Wolverine in Seoul last Monday.

Among the lucky bunch was movie junkie and technical manager Alfred Wang, 32, who told My Paper that he was in disbelief upon receiving news of his win.

He had won exclusive passes to the red-carpet event and movie premiere through a Facebook contest organised and sponsored by Golden Village (GV).

"Hugh is very friendly, unlike his character Wolverine in the movie," said Mr Wang, who managed to get an autograph and a photo with the Hollywood star.

Mr Wang had to participate in three rounds of questions and answers before winning the grand draw.

The winners were flown to Seoul via Scoot for a three-day trip, with sponsored air tickets and accommodation.

Accompanying the winners were radio DJs Jean Danker and Pei Fen, local bloggers Alvin Lim, Grace Tan and Regina Chow, as well as GV representative Jason Teo.

Mr Teo said that Jackman was "very obliging" in answering questions from the fans and commended the 44-year-old actor's strong audience engagement at the event.

Mr Wang, who was in the front row of the event, said: "(Jackman) recognised that we were from Singapore."

The red-carpet event and gala premiere were held at Coex Convention and Exhibition Centre and Megabox respectively.
