Cambodian PM Hun Sen’s party wins election: Gov't spokesman

PHNOM PENH - The Cambodian People's Party (CPP) of long-serving Prime Minister Hun Sen won Sunday's election, taking 68 seats to the main opposition party's 55, the government's main spokesman said.

Khieu Kanharith, who is also information minister, gave the figures on his Facebook page and said it was the final count.

The National Election Committee has not yet published figures.

Sam Rainsy, leader of the opposition Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP), said earlier it had won the election but then withdrew the statement.
