North Korean twins win S'pore run

SINGAPORE - North Korean Kim Hye Gyong receiving a medal from Great Eastern Singapore chief executive officer Khoo Kah Siang after winning the half-marathon at Sunday's Great Eastern Women's Run.

The 20-year-old clocked 1hr 15min 59sec. Her twin, Hye Song, was second in 1:17:52.

The event featured 14,000 runners. Hye Gyong beat 14 others in the Elite category to win US$8,000 (S$10,000).

"I am very happy that I won but at the same time, it's bittersweet that my sister came in second as we were hoping that both of us could get first place on the podium," she said.

Anne Qi Hui (9th) was the fastest Singaporean in 1:25:37.
