Open For Business: Avenue Joffre

Resorts World Sentosa's latest food establishment is Avenue Joffre, which serves a mix of Cantonese, Sichuan and Shanghainese cuisines.

It is named after Avenue Joffre in Shanghai, which is now known as Huaihai Road. It was a renowned destination in the Shanghai French Concession area in the 1930s and 1940s. The road was named in honour of the late French general, Joseph Joffre, who visited Shanghai in 1922.

Appetisers include signature marinated chicken in spicy sauce ($15), marinated sliced beef in Szechuan pepper and chilli oil ($13) and stir-fried peanut, pickled chilli, sweet pepper and cashew in chilli oil ($11).

Roast meats include roasted Peking duck ($75), honey-glazed barbecue pork (from $14) and roasted suckling pig (from $38).

The extensive menu of seafood, meats and soups includes dishes such as braised sea cucumber and goose web in abalone sauce ($42 a person), braised whole Australian abalone ($52 a person), braised tiger king prawn with homemade tofu ($22 a person, photo 1) and Szechuan poached sliced Mandarin fish in chilli oil (from $38).

Dim sum items include steamed Shanghai pork dumpling ($7), sweet and sour pork spare ribs ($13), steamed chicken feet in black bean sauce ($5) and baked barbecued pork bun ($5).
