Open For Business: The Cup

This South Korean quick-service restaurant chain, which has branches in Asia and Europe, has opened in Singapore.

The 44-seat eatery offers the novelty of eating Korean food from take-away boxes commonly seen in Chinese restaurants in the United States.

It serves about 20 items, which include rice, noodles, jjigae (stews), salads, snacks and bingsu.

Crowd favourites are the bibimbap ($9.90), which comes in a box of rice, greens, mushrooms, minced beef, flying fish roe and an egg yolk and honey chicken rice ($7.90), which has deep-fried chicken drizzled with honey sauce.

If you prefer noodles or stews, go for the spicy samgyeop noodles ($8.90), topped with sweet and spicy pork belly or the suntofu jjigae ($8.90), which has tofu, clams and vegetables in a spicy broth, served with rice.
