Open for business: Flock Ghim Moh, Selfish Gene Patisserie, Burgerup

FLOCK GHIM MOH

Flock Cafe in Tiong Bahru has opened an offshoot in Ghim Moh.

The 30-seat cafe focuses on handmade burgers, including the Homemade Nyonya Fish & Prawn Patty ($15) with lettuce, slaw, tomatoes and mayonnaise on toasted ciabatta.

Also on the menu is Crispy Chicken Katsu Rice or Homemade Beef Patty Rice (both $12.90), with a mirin sauce made from scratch, from noon to 2pm, Tuesday to Friday. It comes with a choice of coffee, tea or sparkling mineral water.

Flock's all-day breakfast menu and pastas such as Pork Cheek Rigatoni ($14) with shaved parmesan and basil are also available.

SELFISH GENE PATISSERIE

This week-old patisserie is on the floor above Selfish Gene Cafe and seats 24.

The seven plated desserts on the menu are listed in increasing intensity of flavours - from the light Lime Lychee ($12), which consists of lime ice cream, lime and lychee ice, lychees and nata de coco, to Chocolate, which comprises dark chocolate cake, chocolate ganache, orange confit and orange ice cream ($14).

There is also Soya ($14, above), which comes with a tofu cheesecake, red beans, homemade mochi, miso caramel and green tea ice cream.

All cakes, ice creams and sorbets are made in-house.

BURGERUP

Dig into gourmet burgers at this home-grown fast-food joint, which seats about 100.

It opens today. Eat there at any time from noon to 10pm and you might win a Samsung Galaxy Tab S worth $698. One tablet will be given out every hour.

Until next Sunday, enjoy the beef and fish burger sets at $6.90, instead of the usual price of $8.55, and the chicken burger set at $5.90, instead of $7.65.

The burger joint runs on a self-ordering system, which allows diners to customise their burgers at one of five kiosks.

Choose from different types of sauces, buns, meat and vegetables. There are also the rice beef and rice fish meals (both $9.45).
