Hyde & Co

Cosy English-themed Hyde & Co, which opened on Saturday, offers something different from many a hipster cafe: crumpets.

The yeasted griddle cakes (from $5.50 for two) are made in-house and star in many dishes on the menu. Lunch items ($8.90 to $15.90) include the signature Lady Hyde, a take on the classic Croque Madame with brioche, honey baked ham, pineapple and cheddar sprinkled with dried shrimp sambal, topped with a sunny side up egg; and Caesar's Salad with bak kwa bits.

For weekend brunch, try the Gula Gula ($12.90), three crumpets with gula melaka sauce and coconut flakes. Or if you are really hungry, opt for The Full Works ($17.90), which includes scrambled eggs, grilled cheese portobello mushroom, bratwurst and crumpet. In true English fashion, have a pot of tea ($6.50) - there are more than 45 options to choose from.
