Kensai Kitchen
Have your fill of homey Japanese fare at the new Kensai Kitchen in Liang Court.

This is the first overseas restaurant for the buffet chain, which was established in Izumo, in the Shimane prefecture on Honshu island, in 2006.

Highlights include nikujaga, a stew of beef, potatoes, carrots and onion cooked in soya sauce and mirin; chikuzen-ni, a simmered dish of chicken, shiitake mushrooms, lotus root, konnyaku and burdock root; and salmon sashimi.

Foodology Fresh
Busy executives looking for a healthy meal option can check out Foodology Fresh, a retail sub-brand of Foodology restaurant at the Marina Bay Financial Centre Tower 3.

Prices for set meals start at $9.90 for a choice of main course, side dish or dessert, and a drink. Menu options include turkey and blue cheese wrap; green lentil salad; smoked salmon quiche; and pecan walnut tart. There is also a selection of drinks. There are vegetarian, gluten-free, lactose- free, sugar-free and trans-fat free options too.

Eggs & Berries
For your next brunch fix, head to Eggs & Berries at Westgate mall. At the Jurong branch only - its first outlet is in Changi City Point - the menu features gourmet burgers among brunch dishes such as the classic Eggs Benedict ($16.90).

Order the signature dish, the E&B Beef and Egg Burger ($13.90) with a 14-day dry-aged beef patty, fried egg, onion, wedges, tomatoes and mixed greens.

For dessert, there is creme brulee ($4.90). Those on the go can also pick up $9.90 value meals from 6 to 10pm daily. Options include mushroom pasta with arrabiata sauce and pan-seared smoked chicken breast and eggs.

To-Gather Cafe
Gather your friends and family for a meal at this cosy cafe in Bedok. The menu features affordable Western fare such as seafood aglio olio ($8.90), Italian herb-crusted fish and chips ($8.90) and Pork Cordon Bleu ($10.90) served with fries and vegetables. Desserts include cheesecake ($3.80), apple crumble ($2.80) and chocolate lava cake with vanilla gelato ($5.90).
