Loo's Hainanese Curry Rice

A heads-up for fans of the famous Loo's Hainanese Curry Rice: It is still in business.

It has found a new location a stone's throw from its previous address in Tiong Bahru.

Expect the same delicious Hainanese-style pork cutlet as well as various curries with ingredients ranging from fish to chicken to vegetables. Depending on what you order, a plate of curry rice usually starts at $4.

Where:Block 71 Seng Poh Road, 01-49, corner of Seng Poh Road and Eng Watt Street

Open: 8am to 2.45pm, or when food sells out. Closed on alternate Thursdays. It is open this Thursday

Le Cuisine

The 90-seat restaurant, which also has a 12-seat private dining room, focuses on Western fare inspired by Asian flavours.

Highlights here include braised lamb shank and a crabmeat burger - a crab and prawn patty served with a fried egg and stir-fried vegetables.

Salads are priced between $7.80 and $10.80 each. Soups start at $6.80, while main courses are priced at about $15 each.

Life Is Beautiful Kitchen & Bar

The latest addition to the Noveau New Orleans Louisiana cuisine here, this restaurant in the corner of Duxton Road can seat up to 40 during its dinner service.

While it is up and running, the restaurant's official launch is slated for June 6, when a new, bigger menu will be available, along with a new chef from New Orleans.

Items on the menu include 3 Absinthe washed oysters and sorbet ($15) and a pot of pulled pork, crackling and duck fat toast ($21).

Open: 6pm to midnight (Tuesdays), 6pm to 3am (Wednesdays to Saturdays), closed on Sundays and Mondays

Kiku

Two-month-old Kiku is owned by Hong Kong-based chef-restaurateur Calvin Yeung. He was behind the now-defunct Chinese restaurant One On The Bund at Clifford Pier.

Some signature dishes on the menu include Kanpachi Carpaccio ($18), thinly sliced yellowtail sprinkled with truffle oil and salmon roe; and Ebisurimi Roll ($18), a golden prawn roll with seaweed. There is also Caviar Maguro ($38), tuna sashimi topped with caviar and ladies' fingers in onion dressing.
