Open For Business: Portico Prime

The big brother outlet of Portico restaurant in Alexandra Road has opened in Dempsey, taking over the space vacated by Prime Society.

The 118-seat restaurant is headed by Portico's executive chef Nixon Low, who continues to serve a European-inspired menu using locally sourced ingredients.

For example, fish such as sea bass, golden snapper and barramundi are from Tiberias Harvest, a family-owned farm off Pulau Ubin.

Menu items include duo of beef carpaccio and tartare ($28); chilled truffle-scented angel hair pasta ($28); wagyu beef Bolognese fusilli ($33) and Ultimate Truffle Fries ($56).

To celebrate the restaurant's opening, diners get a complimentary bottle of house wine with a minimum order of four sets of the Signature Tasting Menu ($78++ a set, until Dec 31).

The choice of main course includes pan-seared Pulau Ubin barramundi, locally farmed chicken done two ways (confit and roulade with foie gras) and Tochigi prefecture wagyu (additional $40).
