BROTHERS RAMEN

Siblings Cai Weili, 31, and Cai Weisheng, 28, who are behind the now-defunct ramen stall Homebaked Dough in Tanjong Pagar Plaza, have opened a 43-seat ramen shop at International Plaza.

There are five ramen options on the menu, served in a stock made with pork, chicken, fish bones and vegetables and cooked for seven hours. The noodles are made in-house daily using a Yamato noodle-making machine.

Prices start from $12.90 for the Brothers Ramen with chicken and pork chashu, Japanese fishcake, bamboo shoots and spring onions.

You pick your dish and pay via a touch-screen machine. Note that only $2, $5 and $10 notes and Nets are accepted.

Where: 01-20 International Plaza, 10 Anson Road

Open: 11.30am to 2.30pm and 6.30 to 8.30pm (Monday to Saturday), closed on Sunday, open on public holiday

33SIXTYEIGHT

Get healthier frozen desserts at this 30-seat micro- creamery, which opened last month and specialises in gelato and sorbettos made in small batches. The gelato contains less than 9 per cent fat and the fat-free sorbettos are dairy-free.

There are 12 flavours of gelato and sorbettos offered each day, including the popular Miss Coconut, a coconut gelato made with fresh coconut flesh and coconut water and served inside a coconut; Green Citizen (pistachio); and Boss' Wife (hazelnut chocolate). A scoop of gelato or sorbetto costs $3.60 or you can have it with a waffle for $8.60.

A must-try is the Bun Bun Bomb ($6), a bun with a scoop of gelato, then toasted and sealed in a gelato panini press. The gelato does not melt in the machine as the bun is inside for only 20 seconds, so you can enjoy the hot, crispy bun and cold gelato at the same time.

Where: 01-07, Block 8 Jalan Batu

Open: Noon to 10pm (Tuesday to Sunday), 5 to 10pm (Monday)
