Pacquiao on board Singapore-based MMA franchise

Singapore-based mixed martial arts (MMA) franchise ONE Fighting Championship has received a boost, after Filipino boxing star Manny Pacquiao recently acquired a minority stake in the organisation.

According to One FC founder and CEO Victor Cui, the deal was agreed around six weeks ago, as the 35-year-old WBO welterweight champion looks to build his post-boxing career.

Cui said: "One of his goals in sport is to create the Manny Pacquiao agency that will do everything from athlete management to events, so this fits nicely into his plans on how to get involved in the world of MMA."

The eight-division world champion and Philippines congressman will not grace the Nov 7 Battle of Lions event at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, though, as he is busy preparing for his welterweight title bout with Chris Algieri in Macau on Nov 23.
