Pay up to $90,000 for the world's most expensive flight

Airlines these days have upped their standards of luxury to fantastical levels since commercial flights began in 1914, according to Flying100Years.com.

Other than just Michelin-starred meals, airlines are now providing hotel-standard services up in the sky.

If you miss the comforts of home, Etihad Airways unveiled a three-room suite called The Apartment in December 2014, and it will be available on their A380 aircraft later this year. It is a step above First Class and comes with a private butler and concierge service.

But to book a round trip from New York City to Dubai, be ready to fork out a staggering 42,000 pounds (S$90,000).

This is currently the most expensive round-trip flight in the world, according to MailOnline Travel.

Etihad Airways is not the only airline providing such exclusive services.

Asian airlines Cathay Pacific Airways and Singapore Airlines (SIA) are also pampering its premium guests with utmost luxury.

For a return flight between New York and Hong Kong, First Class passengers can enjoy total privacy in individual suites with plush carpets and leather seats.

According to MailOnline Travel, the cabin is optimised with the latest technology, such as noise-cancelling headphones and an LCD touch screen controller to adjust their seats and lights. The seats can also be transformed into beds with the controller.

Travellers have to pay up to 18,000 pounds (S$40,000) to enjoy this experience befitting royalty.

Home-grown SIA is also one of the airlines providing such opulent services as well.

Travellers on the the New York-Singapore flight route can enjoy the First Class suites which has the airline's largest armchair, hand-stitched by Italian luxury furniture maker Poltrona Frau, according to MailOnline Travel.

Passengers are also pampered not only with a international menu but meals are served on exclusively-designed Givenchy tableware.
