SINGAPORE - My husband has been with the Singapore Police Force for more than 15 years.
He was filled with disbelief and grief when he found out that the suspect in the Kovan double murder case is a police officer.
Over the years, I have seen him working in many posts, from land to sea.
Despite the many ups and downs in his career, he remains highly committed to his job and wears his uniform with pride.
The daily stress and pressure, coupled with the high expectations that come with the job, can be hard to bear at times.
The families and friends of police officers need to understand the uniqueness of the job and give them the support they need, especially during times like these.
So if you have the opportunity to meet a police officer, why don't you offer a word of encouragement?
