Premium Japanese vegetables available in Singapore till Sept 29

SINGAPORE - From now till Sept 29, consumers here can find premium Japanese vegetables at 18 supermarkets operated by Cold Storage.

The environmentally friendly vegetables were brought in by a consortium of Japanese and Singapore companies as part of a project that aims to showcase Japan's quality and advanced technology, Tokyo-based La Ditta said in a statement.

The consortium is planning to bring the premium vegetables to the rest of Asia, following the Singapore launch.

"With the Singapore launch serving as the springboard for a growing demand in purpose-built clean rooms that can produce leafy vegetables for the first time in Asia, the consortium behind the project is now in discussions with various partners within ASEAN market, and are expecting to kick-start the scheme in 2015/2016," La Ditta said.

The company claims that these premium vegetables are pesticide-free, ready-to-eat, and have a longer expiry date.
