Quek posts another 69 for a 2-shot lead

Singapore golfer Quincy Quek stayed at the top of the leaderboard after two rounds of the $70,000 Goodpack SPGA Presidents Cup at the Warren Golf and Country Club on Wednesday.

Tied for top spot with compatriot Lam Zhiqun after the first round at two-under 69, he repeated his day-one performance to consolidate his lead.

The 26-year-old made up for a bogey at the 15th hole with birdies at the second, fifth and 16th to lead the field at four-under 138.

Lam, on the other hand, hit trouble on the 15th, carding a double-bogey seven as he finished at one-over 72.

He slipped to joint-third on 141 with Australian Unho Park (69) while Singapore's Choo Tze Huang is second on 140 after carding his second straight 70.

The tournament features 21 amateurs competing alongside 61 professionals on the undulating course at Choa Chu Kang.

Edgar Oh, one of Singapore's leading amateur golfers, gleaned plenty of insights after sharing a buggy with Singapore's top golfer Mardan Mamat on both days. Mardan is in fifth spot on 142.

Said Edgar, 17, who qualified for the final round after topping the amateur division with an overall two-over 144: "You can see that Mardan's technique is very sound and that he is very steady at every hole.

"I've learnt a lot in terms of keeping my composure and trusting my stroke."

The top 44 pros and top six amateurs played the final round on Thursday.

The winner took home $8,550.
