S-League: Qiu finds his way Home...again

Singapore international forward Qiu Li is set for his third stint at S-League giants Home United.

The China-born star (right), who turns 33 in June, was without a club after he decided not to accept a pay cut at Balestier Khalsa.

Yesterday, Qiu played the full match in Home's 2-1 loss to Malaysian Super League (MSL) side ATM FA at the Jurong West Stadium.

According to sources, the striker has already penned a deal with the Protectors.

If confirmed, it will be Qiu's third spell at the Bishan-based club, after one season in 2007, and a two-year stint from 2011 to 2012.

Qiu top-scored for Balestier last season with 12 goals and was linked with a move to Singapore MSL side LionsXII.

But LionsXII coach Fandi Ahmad said the player's age was a factor that went against him.

ROSTER

Home have almost finalised their S-League roster even though kick-off is thought to be still more than a month away.

South Korean marquee player Lee Kwan Woo, the S-League's Player of the Year last season, and French defender Sirina Camara, the league's Best Young Player, have both been retained.

Albirex Niigata's Brazil-born forward Bruno Castanheira has been recruited to add flair to the frontline, while 23-year-old Suwon City striker Song In Young has also been brought in.

They replace Canadian forward Jordan Webb and South Korean Choi Jae Won.

Among the new local players for Home are former Singapore Under-23 midfielders Izzdin Shafiq and Fazli Ayob, Geylang International winger Yasir Hanapi and Tampines Rovers forward Ahmed Fahmie.

Singapore internationals Fazrul Nawaz (fractured skull), Noh Rahman (knee) and Indra Sahdan (broken leg) are all at least three months away from returning to action.
