Samurai Blue begins World Cup training

IBUSUKI, Kagoshima - Japan's World Cup squad started a training camp in Ibusuki, Kagoshima Prefecture, on Wednesday.

Twenty members of the Samurai Blue, including Kawasaki Frontale forward Yoshito Okubo, practiced for about two hours on the day. "Everyone seems to be excited [about the World Cup]," Japan manager Alberto Zaccheroni said.

The Japan national team will have the training camp until Sunday. It will play in a friendly with Cyprus at Saitama Stadium in Saitama on Tuesday and fly to the United States on May 29 for two more friendlies, against Costa Rica and Zambia.
