Shahadan gets Stange call

After a three-month exile from the national team, Shahdan Sulaiman has played himself back into the Singapore squad for the first time under Bernd Stange's rule.

The 25-year-old Tampines Rovers midfielder was called up after national captain Shahril Ishak tore a muscle in a Malaysia Cup match last month.

Shahdan will travel with the Lions for the upcoming away friendly matches against China and Hong Kong on Friday and Sept 10, respectively.

"Of course I was disappointed when I was left out of the previous matches against Myanmar, Laos and Oman," said Shahdan, a Suzuki Cup winner last December.

"But I was also determined to win back my place and I'm happy and excited that I have a chance to show coach Bernd what I can do for the national team.

"Hopefully, I get to play some part in the two games, so I can try to cement my place in the national team for the upcoming Asian Cup qualifier against Syria."
