HONG KONG - Because Of Love by Eason Chan and Faye Wong is a curious duet, a mismatched love song that sounds like it was performed by two strangers in two different time zones.
Now Hong Kong crooner Chan has confessed that in fact, he does not know Mandopop queen Wong, says Ming Pao Daily News.
Speaking at a gig in Macau last Friday, he debunked the idea that everyone in entertainment is friends with everyone else.
"Do you know who Hacken Lee is," he asked the crowd about another veteran Hong Kong singer.
When the fans laughed, he added: "It's hard to say in this world. Not everyone may know him."
He said: "Some people think we know everyone in the entertainment industry. They call and say to get them two Faye Wong concert tickets. I really don't know her. We just have the same manager."
Chan, who is famous for his outbursts and jokes on stage, ended his monologue by telling the crowd their tickets covered "singing, but not me speaking".
"I'm playing guitar now, it isn't part of the package, so everyone is being charged five bucks," he added tongue in cheek.
