Mizushima Hiro makes comeback in manga-inspired film

Actor-turned-author Hiro Mizushima will be making a comeback on the big screen this month as a demonic butler in manga-based movie Black Butler.

The comic series, which sold 18 million copies worldwide, is about a highly skilled butler Sebastian who is bound by a secret contract to serve Kiyoharu, a young girl dressed like a boy. According to the contract, the demon Sebastian will be rewarded with his master's soul as long as he helps and supports his master's missions.

Master Kiyoharu, played by Ayame Goriki, heads a noble family which has a secret task of acting as a watchdog for the queen.

After a series of mummified dead bodies were discovered, the queen asked Kiyoharu to help solve the crimes.

In its adaptation as a live-action film, the setting of the original comic was changed from 19th century United Kingdom to a present day setting.

The film, which also stars Midzuki Yamamoto was directed by Kentaro Otani.

Black Butler opens in cinemas on April 17.
