Another case of alleged cat abuse has surfaced in Ang Mo Kio, where a stray cat died from having a hard object shoved up its rectum and through its stomach.
Cat lover Crystal Tan is offering $1,000 to help catch the culprit, Shin Min Daily News reported yesterday.
Ms Tan, a locksmith, had gone to Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1 at about 10.30pm on Thursday with a friend to feed stray cats.
The 50-year-old could not find a ginger cat named Boyboy at its usual spot at Block 220, so she went to search for it. To her horror, she found it lying on a patch of grass, barely breathing, with a hole in its stomach.
She and her friend suspected that someone had used a long, hard object to impale its rectum and stomach.
"When my friend found Boyboy, it was covered with blood and it died the next day," Ms Tan said.
Outraged by the incident, she is offering $1,000 to anyone who can provide leads to find the culprit.
Ms Tan told My Paper yesterday that she and her friends will continue to take care of Boyboy's siblings.
Two suspected cat abuse cases have happened in Ang Mo Kio in recent years. In August 2013, a cat named Little Lion had superglue applied to one of its legs. Six months later, it was found that the fur on its back had been shaved.
On Dec 4 last year, the Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA) appealed to the public for assistance in locating a male suspect to help with investigations into two suspected cat abuse cases near Block 219, Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1.
Under Singapore's Animal and Birds Act, those found guilty of animal cruelty can be jailed for up to 12 months, fined up to $10,000 or both.
