1,000 senior citizens attend concert to learn about road safety

SINGAPORE - The Traffic Police (TP) and Singapore Road Safety Council (SRSC) held the fourth and final Road Safety Concert for the Golden Age at the Home Team Academy's Harmony Hall today (Nov 22) said the Singapore Police Force in a statement.

Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of National Development Mr Desmond Lee was the guest-of-honour (GOH) for the event, which was attended by about 1,000 senior citizens.

The Road Safety Concert for the Golden Age was first launched during the Singapore Road Safety Month back in May 2013. The first three concerts were held in the northern, southern and eastern parts of Singapore. Through skits, songs and dances by homegrown television and radio artistes, these concerts aimed at raising senior citizens' awareness of road hazards and to also provide them with road safety tips.

The concerts are also a way to remind the elderly of the available road facilities that they could use for their own safety.

This fourth and final installation of the Road Safety Concert for the Golden Age also featured performances specially tailored for the senior citizens, with road safety messages in various languages weaved into them.

Through these performances, the elderly were taught various road safety habits and tips, as well as how to be safe on the roads.
