1,208 Teck Ghee residents help set new lantern record

SINGAPORE - A new record for the most number of people carrying balloon lanterns was set on Saturday night in Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park, as 1,208 Teck Ghee residents took part in a lantern procession led by guest of honour Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.

PM Lee is the MP of the Teck Ghee ward in Ang Mo Kio GRC. The feat was logged in the Singapore Book of Records, and beat the previous record of 384 participants set last year at a People's Association (PA) event in Punggol.

A total of 5,000 residents came out to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival at yesterday's event, which was also organised by the PA.
