JOHOR BARU - A total of 121 foreigners from five countries were nabbed during an operation conducted by the state Immigration Department.
Aged between 19 and 49, they comprised 65 Bangladeshis, 23 Indonesians, 20 Pakistanis, 11 Vietnamese and two from Myanmar.
Operations commander Kharulanuar Abu Bakar said they were nabbed at a construction site in Larkin at 1.50am yesterday.
"At least seven women were among those nabbed," he said.
He added that most of their offences included overstaying and not having proper travel documents.
He also said that 189 foreigners were screened during the one-and-a-half-hour operation.
In an unrelated case, rescuers are searching for a 40-year-old man whose boat had capsized while he was out fishing in Air Baloi in Pontian at 3am yesterday.
It is learnt that the man and his 44-year-old friend had gone fishing on Sunday when their boat was hit by strong waves and capsized.
Several fishermen managed to rescue the friend in Api Api.
A rescue operation is underway to locate the other man.
