1,300 walk and roll for charity

SINGAPORE - Some 1,300 people gathered at the Singapore Flyer's F1 track at 7am this morning to walk and skate for a meaningful cause.

Organised by the Central Singapore Community Development Council (CDC) and the Singapore Rollersports Federation (SRF), participants each walked or skated at least 2km to fund the purchase of milk powder for needy children in the Central Singapore District.

The event was flagged off by Mr Eddie Teo, President of the Singapore Rollersports Federation, and Mr Wan Kwong Weng, District Councillor and Chairman of the Community Impact Programmes Committee at Central Singapore CDC.

The crowd – which included families with babies, as well as the oldest walker at 92-years-old – raised a total of 2,500 tins of milk powder for the cause.

Funds raised will be distributed to Family Service Centres (FSCs) within the Central Singapore District, and will go toward the purchase of milk powder for some 250 children from low-income families.

The CDC will continue accepting donations to support this cause till 30 November 2013. Members of the public who are interested to donate may write in to feedback@centralsingapore.org.sg.
