15-year-old teen and 2 others arrested for vehicle theft

SINGAPORE - Two men and a woman aged between 15 and 25 years old have been arrested by the police for suspected involvement in several cases of vehicle theft around the eastern part of Singapore.

Police were notified about cash cards and other valuables being stolen from lorries parked at Dover, Clementi and Holland estates between Sep 18 to 21.

After ground investigations and follow-up, officers from the Clementi Division established the identity of the suspects and arrested them in Toa Payoh on Sep 21.

The two men will be charged in court on Sep 23 for an offence of Theft with Common Intention. They face a jail term up to three years, or a fine, or both.

Investigations against the female suspect is still on-going.

The police advises the public to adopt the following precautionary measures to prevent theft from vehicles:

1. Park in well-lit areas and do not leave valuables in the vehicle.

2. Install an anti-theft system.

3. Remove cash cards and other valuables such as laptops before leaving your vehicle, even if it is for a short while.

4. Wind up all windows and close all doors of your vehicle, even if it is left unattended for a short while.
